STEEL

From scrap to

STEEL

The production of quality, threaded and reinforcing steel occupies the central place in Max Aicher’s steel business segment.

Steel can be recycled any number of times – without any loss of quality – and is therefore an ideal material to be used in a closed internal production chain.

In addition to threaded and reinforcing steel for the construction industry, high-quality steel is produced in particular for the automotive, machine, tool and chain industries as well as plant construction and energy generation.

Wherever large-scale construction projects change the world, threaded steel from Max Aicher is used.

1

step #1

Scrap presorting & preparation

Sorted steel scrap forms the basis of our steel production. By processing it in our own shearing, shredding, and flame-cutting facilities, a stable in-house supply to the steelworks across the entire value chain is ensured.

step #2

Steel production

In Germany and Hungary, steel scrap is melted in electric arc furnaces to produce crude steel for quality, construction, and reinforcing steel. The steelworks supply the raw material for further processing and form a central component of the integrated value chain.

step #3

Recycling material management

By-products from steel production are systematically processed and integrated into new recycling loops. Slag is used, among other applications, in construction or as a substitute for lime, while zinc-containing filter dust serves as a raw material in zinc recycling. In this way, valuable materials are recovered and existing production chains are efficiently extended.

Step #4

Steel refinement and processing

The produced crude steel forms the basis for multi-stage further processing within the group. Depending on the production stage, the material is either processed directly or first cast into billets and rolled in specialized mills to produce reinforcing steel in various dimensions. Building on this, extensive refinement takes place, where the steel is heat-treated, straightened, machined, inspected, and tempered according to specific requirements. This results in bright steel, reinforcing steel, and threaded steel with precisely defined mechanical and technological properties. Selected products are further processed at international sites to meet specific market requirements.

step #5

Logistics/Cargo

Once the quality checks are complete, the finished steel products are delivered to customers on schedule. Transport is handled by in-house logistics providers and can be carried out by rail, truck, or ship to ensure reliable supply in Germany and internationally.
